Nonna Santina and Nonno Leonardo took a leap of faith when they immigrated to America from the beautiful island of Sicily, despite not knowing a word of English.
With them, they brought a rich cultural heritage and dreams
for a life so strong, nothing could deter them.

Together, in 1978, they founded Leo’s Pizza and Italian Restaurant in Jacksonville, Illinois; a restaurant that is still being managed by the second and third generations.
For many years, customers have tasted the history, traditions, and hard work
that has been poured into every batch of sauce.

Growing up, I was surrounded by the aromas and was influenced by the flavors that lingered in my Nonna’s kitchen. The decision to jar one of her many sauce recipes has allowed me to share the authentic taste of Sicily with those who have never experienced it.

Now, Nonna Santina’s sauce is accessible to a wider audience, allowing her legacy to continue to bring families together around the dinner table. Our story is a reminder that passion, perseverance and food can bridge any divide and can unite
a world with the love of good, Italian cuisine.
